Mark Hamill Joins Jumanji Threequel Set To Face Off Against Episode IX

Mark Hamill Joins Jumanji Threequel Set To Face Off Against Episode IXIn a move straight out of his WWE past, Dwayne Johnson aka the Rock recently announced the addition of Mark Hamill to the cast of Jumanji 3: Revenge of Jumanji. It’s a major coup for the production as the film is set to go toe to toe with the mega franchise Hamill is best known for.

December 2019 will see a battle between Lukes, since Hamill is featured in Jumanji 3 as well as Star Wars: Episode IX. While the clickbait headlines write themselves, it’s not exactly apples to apples as Hamill’s appearance in Episode IX is more of a glorified cameo, whereas he’s one of the leads in the ensemble cast of Jumanji 3.

“I’m a force ghost in one scene, but that’s about it. Episode IX is really Leia’s story this time… not that any of the new films were mine hahaha, but yeah… I’m thrilled to get more screen time in Jumanji 3. Dwayne’s a huge fan, and he’s really great about making this an ensemble and giving my character some amazing moments. I swear, I’m closer to Luke Skywalker — the way I envisioned him anyway — in Jumanji than I ever was in Disney wars,” said Hamill.

Can you smell what the Rock and Mark Hamill are cooking!?

It’s no surprise Hamill would be thrilled to team up with the Rock as the veteran voice actor has been very vocal about his dissatisfaction with how Luke Skywalker has been handled under Disney. The Rock sympathizes, and also feels let down by what became of his boyhood hero. So it was bittersweet for the new father to handily defeat The Last Jedi at the box office earlier this year.

“You always hurt the ones you love, I suppose. But it’s karma baby. You can’t do Luke like that and not reap what you sow. Mark and I instantly became Twitter pals and we grew pretty tight. And then it clicked: together, we can give fans the hero Hamill they deserve. Honestly, Star Wars fans are in for a real treat. Mark has never been so heroic, funny, and powerful as he is in this movie. Spoiler: he beats the snot out of me a few times. But man, did it feel good, and it works out as we eventually team up to take on a legit scary villain. Everyone was on their A game with Luke Skywalker in our presence. It was so friggin’ litty!”

Kennedy is banking on J.J. Abrams and second unit director Victoria Mahoney (pictured here with Abrams and good friend Ava DuVernay) to defeat Jumanji 3

For its part, Disney is not intimidated in the least. In fact, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Episode IX director J.J. Abrams welcome the challenge.

“More work for Hamill is always great, but let’s get real here. A family friendly comedy stands no chance against the culmination of the greatest film saga of all time. And let’s not forget, we have an African-American woman second unit director this time out. Tradition and diversity is on our side,” said Kennedy.

The Rock and Hamill have amazing chemistry together, according to Hamill

The Rock respectfully laughed off Kennedy’s comments.

“We took round one last year, and we’re going to lay the smackdown on them [Star Wars] again. But this time, with Mark by my side, playing a red-blooded hero, not some shadow of his former self, it won’t even be close. Together, we’re aiming for the Intergalactic Tag Team belt of the box office. Diversity won’t save you, Kathleen. I’m Samoan and Black Nova Scotian — which makes me a beautiful black man of African American heritage. So bring it!”

Will Jumanji 3 ride its momentum and capitalize on the failures of The Last Jedi to set up a satisfying Episode IX? Or will J.J. Abrams course-correct the saga and create a finale for the ages, thereby defeating the Rock and Hamill at the box office? Who knows, but two times the Hamill is a victory for all movie fans, and December 2019 can’t get here soon enough.
