Last Jedi Remake Needs $800 Billion More For Reshoots

Despite only being live for a week, the campaign to remake The Last Jedi has already hit a snag. In a development that echoes problems experienced by professional productions, the fans behind the campaign claim their film will require one to twelve rounds of reshoots. As such, they’re seeking an additional investment from the community. To date, fans have pledged nearly $200 million in donations to help the production right the perceived wrongs of Rian Johnson’s version of The Last Jedi.

According to campaign manager Anon, the fan remake is simply covering off on everything that could possibly wrong. “Even remakes can require reshoots, and an additional 64 weeks in post-production is one way our film is staying true to Rian’s less offensive foundational elements.” However, critics of the remake think $800 billion is an obscene amount to ask for reshoots, regardless if you’re a fan filmmaker or an Oscar winning one.

Both Ron Howard and George Lucas find this crowd funding to smell a bit fishy.

“I could remake Solo three more times and come in under a billion, so this reeks of tomfoolery,” said director Ron Howard.

Anon understands the criticism, but according to him and his producing partner (also named Anon), it comes with the territory.

A group of students from South Bay Secondary School in New Brunswick, Ontario were offended by Anon’s callous swipe at mathletes.

“We set out to remake a terrible film, and that doesn’t come cheap. It took Ruin Johnson $250 million to create The Last Jedi. Obviously, we’re going to need more than that… simply for a rough cut. Then we have to focus group the remake among the fan community — and we’re listening to everyone… except Ruin obviously. We aim to make a film that pleases everyone. To do that, we’re going to need extensive reshoots and possibly reshoots of the reshoots of the reshoots. You don’t have to be a mathlete to understand the costs increase exponentially.”

FSW reached out to influential members of the Star Wars fan community to gauge their reaction to this latest development. Surprisingly, most everyone we spoke to remains supportive of the project even with its additional $800 billion ask. “You just put up a fake email, and pledge to donate a fake amount. No worries. I just donated $6 trillion this afternoon, so they should be good,” said a high-profile member of The Cantina messageboard.

Uwe Boll is ready to throw down in a slap fight for a chance to direct the fan remake of The Last Jedi.

We can confirm the fan filmmakers have even reached out to German director and noted provocateur Uwe Boll. It remains to be seen who or what will actually direct the fan remake of The Last Jedi. Can they crowd-source such critical responsibilities? Let us know in the comments or hit us up on Twitter.
