Reylo Nation Decanonizes Daisy Ridley Engagement

Yesterday several news outlets reported that Star Wars lead Daisy Ridley had gotten engaged to her Murder on the Orient Express co-star Tom Bateman. Fairly conventional story about two young people finding love in the workplace. Unless of course you’re one of the thousands of superfans obsessed with Reylo — the “shipping” of Ridley’s Rey and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren character from the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Because for Reylo fans, the news was a tremendous setback.

“We’re finally getting over Adam being married and having a 3-year-old with someone else [Joanne Tucker], so yeah, this isn’t exactly good news,” said a spokesperson for Reylo nation.

The group of fans has taken the extreme measure of deeming Ridley’s engagement non-canon, essentially declaring it fan fiction. Some Reylos have suggested the 27-year-old actress is only trying to make Driver jealous with Bateman. Despite the latest developments, the passionate fans remain optimistic that Reylo will happen, both onscreen and off.

“Nothing will stop the prophecy from being fulfilled, certainly not some guy who doesn’t even look like Adam Driver,” said the spokesperson.
