Weinstein Praises Former Secretary, Has High Hopes For Her Star Wars Show

Erie County, NY — Hollywood’s most hated man has nothing but good things to say about Leslye Headland, the newly announced showrunner for the first female-centric Star Wars show on Disney Plus.

We met with Harvey Weinstein at Wende Correctional Facility in upstate New York, where the former movie producer is serving a 23-year sentence. Weinstein was in good spirits as he’d just tested negative for the coronavirus after a brief scare two weeks ago.

“Les is great. She worked under me for six years at Miramax in the early aughts. And unlike all my other former secretaries, she has never sued me or spoken negatively about me once. That’s no small feat. I like to think it’s because we were both so productive — literally at the tops of our games — during the time we worked together. I get misty-eyed just thinking of it.”

Weinstein claims the pair became so close, he actually inspired Headland to become a playwright, going so far as to encourage her to write about him.

“I told her, I says Les write what you know, write from the heart… and you know and love me. And she did it. I was so proud of her writing that play. Assistance is great fun. In case it wasn’t obvious, yes, I am Daniel Weisinger, head of the Weisinger Company in the play.”

According to the convicted felon, he has kept in close contact with Headland throughout the years via social media accounts he runs under pseudonyms known only to his closest friends and supporters. When asked whether one of his accounts was mentioned in Headland’s recently deleted tweets, Weinstein changed the subject.

“Does a Jedi Master ever stop teaching his padawan? I mean, Les is a Jedi in her right by now, but a mentoring relationship is for life… which is great, since I’m going to be here for a bit and could use the interaction.”

Despite being in a maximum security prison, Weinstein managed to obtain a Disney Plus password and a 50-inch smart TV in his cell. He’s been keeping busy by binge-watching all the Star Wars content on the streaming service.

Ooh, that Baby Yoda — I just want to kiss him and hug him and call him George! You could say I’m a bit obsessed with The Mandalorian. Can’t wait for the behind-the-scenes show about the making of it!”

Now that Headland is set to head up a new Star Wars show, Weinstein is over the moon about having one of the few people still in his corner wield influence on the most popular IP in the world.

The Bachelorette proved Les can easily write for the big screen. And Russian Dolls has shown she may be an even better fit for the small screen. What she does with Star Warsis going to finally make good on Kathleen Kennedy’s promise of new and unique stories told by fresh voices.”

Oh, and about the inevitable haters, Weinstein doesn’t think they stand a chance at getting under his former assistant’s skin. “She put up with me at my absolute worst. So trolls really have their work cut out for them. Good luck. If anything, Les will help them see the error of their ways. Hell, she helped turn me to the light side.
