Kevin Smith To Direct Star Wars Spinoff For Disney Streaming

In their debut appearance, Tag and Bink are on the Rebellion flagship Tantive IV when the Star Destroyer Devastator overtakes it. To avoid capture, they dress up as stormtroopers and are then taken to the Death Star for even more hijinks, including a run-in with Darth Vader himself.
We’re told Disney hopes the film does well enough to continue as an ongoing series for the service. Tag and Bink Are Dead would mark the first time Star Wars has actually tried something tonally different under Disney. While the Star Wars Stories were meant to be experiments in tone, they quickly devolved into the tried-and-true once production issues and poor testing scores became the norm.
“Imagine Spaceballs meets Jay and Silent Bob… yeah it’s gonna be total snoochie boochies,” said an insider through a dense cloud of green smoke.
As Smith teased recently, Tag And Bink Are Dead will be the biggest IP he’s ever handled, since the film series will indeed be Star Wars canon. Our source mentions there will be a few surprises for fans of the comic series as well. We’re told Smith is taking The Walking Dead approach of retaining the best of the comics, while introducing all-new jokes and storylines for the film.
