Walt Disney Records Announces Sounds of the Force – Music Inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Disney is a media empire, and they will go to all lengths to ensure Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be a success. It has been announced that Walt Disney Records will be releasing not only the official soundtrack of the forthcoming Star Wars film but also an album of music by today’s hottest artists. After the jump we will reveal who made the cut to appear on Sounds of the Force – Music Inspired by The Force Awakens.
Disney’s execs have gone after some of Bilboard’s top artists as well as bands whose sound is a natural fit for the Star Wars universe. All of the following artists or bands have recorded new tracks that will feature exclusively on Sounds of the Force.
Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran will be teaming up to for a song inspired by Rey, the Jakku scavenger. They will use sounds native to Jakku acoustic guitar players and it will feature a John Mayer lute solo.
Maroon 5 will be writing a song inspired by Finn. Leaving the First Order is a big deal and Adam Levine says, “This song will truly capture what it means to leave your former way of life and embrace something new and unexpected.” Adam was so moved by Finn’s story he recently got the Resistance logo added to his plethora of tattoos.
Fall Out Boy will be recording a song based on Poe Dameron. Their pop punk sound is perfect for his rebellious nature. The song will feature guest guitar work by none other than Carlos Santana who happens to be one of Oscar Issac’s Uncle’s favorite artists.
Daughtry will be taking the liberty of writing a song focusing on Captain Phasma. “It will be a rock version of the James Brown classic It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World,” Chris said. “I was able to relate to her struggle as a female living in a man’s world.” Uhhh… ok Chris.
Drake will be authoring yet another song about Finn, this time focusing on his path to become a Jedi, and his sensitivities – both Force and romance-based.
Skrillex and Ellie Goulding will be teaming up to record an Indie Techno remix of Maz’s Castle Theme. The track is rumored to be titled I Know Your F***’in Eyes.
X Ambassadors will be authoring a new song based on the relationship of Han and Leia. Miley Cyrus will appear on the track but only doing classic Leia lines in what she called her “gangsta” voice over style.
Imagine Dragons will be coming on board to write a song based on the awakening of the Force. Prepare to fall asleep.
Van Halen will be teaming up with John Williams to author Kylo Ren’s theme. It will be a song reminiscent of their hit song Runnin’ With the Devil mashed up with The Imperial March. It is rumored that Adam Driver will appear in the music video trashing a Starbucks with Kylo’s lightsaber. He will not appear dressed as Kylo however and instead will be wearing one of Diamond Dave’s outfits from the 80’s.
One Republic is writing a song focusing on the main theme of The Force Awakens; family.
U2 will be writing a song focusing on the character of Max von Sydow, Lor San Tekka. MvS himself drops a spoken word verse on the track. Severe editing was required.
Coldplay will be authoring a song also based on Rey’s journey. The track is titled A Sky Filled With No Star Destroyers.
30 Seconds to Mars will be writing a song about BB-8 and his adventure. Jared Leto will direct the video depicting BB-8’s birth and life up until the film begins. Jared will also be playing BB-8. Royal Blood will also be writing a song inspired by Kylo Ren. The song is titled Immune to the Light. It spews bad assery.
Bruno Mars will be doing his own rendition of The Force Theme from the original trilogy with lyrics focusing on Luke Skywalker.
Finally, The Weeknd will be writing a brooding sing-songy spoken word rap to go over the main Star Wars theme. The track was produced by Rick Rubin who wore Jedi garb during the recording process to capture the correct essence needed.
