Nintendo Switchmas Arrives Early for John Boyega!

Nintendo superfan John Boyega leading Switchmas the charge!

Nintendo superfan and The Force Awakens star John Boyega has gotten his Switchmas gift early! Boyega, who is the nephew of Nintendo of America’s president and CEO Reggie Fils-Aimé, was in Tokyo earlier today and was given a Switch console and a copy of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to enjoy ahead of tonight’s Switch presentation.

Boyega is a former e-sports competitive Super Smash Bros. Melee player.

John Boyega has given FSW his exclusive thoughts on the Switch and how he plans to spend the rest of the month before returning to the Pacific Rim 2 set. Boyega busted the Switch out on the airplane trip home today.

“It was easily the best Zelda game- no, best game period I’ve ever played. I went straight to battle Ganon first. Got my rear end handed to me. The controllers are great and easy to hold, even when not connected to the Switch itself. I prefer the grip though.”

Boyega told us he would stop by the FSW office before he returns to London to let us take the console for a spin. Boyega did tell us that he actually first played the Switch prototype back in 2015 when the console was still in development.

“I was also one of the first to play the Switch back in early 2015 when it was still called the NX but I was not allowed to talk about it. I can tell you, it’s very similar to how it was back then but everything has extremely improved.”

Back at E3 they actually let me test Breath of the Wild on the Switch rather than the Wii U and boy, the game was great then but way better now. I’m so happy with the improvements and I can’t wait to continue playing the game.”

Thanks for the exclusive, John! We can’t wait for tonight’s Switch event. Hopefully they annouce a sweet new Star Wars game or at least add Bor Gullet to Splatoon for Switch.
